As a kicker, if the selected text is from a webpage in Safari or Firefox, it’ll also grab the URL of the frontmost window and add that to the tweet as well.

To install, move the file into ‘<Your Home Folder>/Library/Services’. You can also go to your Services Preferences and assign a keyboard shortcut to the script (I’m using Shift-Ctrl-Alt-Cmd-N!) by going to the Application Menu > Services > Services Preferences (Screenshot).

Enjoy!

UPDATE: Version 1.1 will also, when used with text selected in Mail, add the subject line of the frontmost mail message to the tweet (thanks Graham)

Download it now by clicking here. [zip file, 90kB]

Baby Grand 1.0 Now Available

Baby Grand 1.0 is now available on the App Store - a really big update which adds the ability to switch to a blue piano, and also two new instrument sounds - a marimba and a guitar.

New in this version:

Keyboard can now be either Pink or Blue - option in Settings

New Instrument Sounds: choice of Piano, Marimba or Guitar

Option to switch off Play Along Mode

Other minor fixes and corrections

Go to the App Store now for a free upgrade, or to buy the iPhone Piano for Kids.

Colo(u)r 1.0 Out Now

Find Hexadecimal and RGB values for any colours using this simple, lightweight and FREE application for the Mac.

Download it now!

I’m constantly coming up against this problem: needing to know the hexadecimal value of a colour I’m using (say, so I can use it in a CSS file) but not being able to get to it without opening a design package and going through some horrendous six stage process.

Thought I to myself: “this could be easier”.

And so I made this little app, which I’ve called ‘Colo(u)r’ which just sits in your Mac’s status bar, and lets you find hexadecimal and RGB values of colours using the standard OS X colour picker. It couldn’t be easier. Here’s a pic, to show you how simple it is:

And, best of all, it’s utterly, entirely free. That’s right. Free. Costs not a penny. You can download it right here, right now.

So Enjoy!

Baby Grand 0.9 Available on the App Store

First of all, hi and welcome to the Strawberry Milkshake blog - where I’ll be keeping you up to date with any news and products we release.

The first product to come from Strawberry Milkshake, Baby Grand, went on sale on the App Store on Thursday. Here’s the description from the App Store Page:

Baby Grand is the iPhone Piano designed especially for young children.

Make up songs and sing along to nursery rhymes with a keyboard made for toddlers. There’s no unnecessary buttons or distractions to get in the way and spoil the fun, and thanks to Baby Grand’s ‘Play-Along’ mode, you and your little ones can learn how to play all the songs. Finally, an iPhone App that’s fun for all the family!

Currently Baby Grand comes with 6 songs:

Twinkle Twinkle Little Star

Row Row Row Your Boat

Here We Go Round the Mulberry Bush

There’s A Hole In My Bucket

The Wheels on the Bus

Pop Goes the Weasel

It’s been great fun and a great learning experience to make Baby Grand, and I’ve got loads more features in the pipeline (including a blue version!) so keep watching this blog for updates and info when it’s released.

Baby Grand is on sale for £2.39, or $3.99 in the USA, be sure to get yourself a copy from the App Store, a must for any parent with an iPhone.
